Publication Ethics

Publication Policy

ETU Synthesis Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences is an open access, peer-reviewed, internationally refereed scientific journal published twice a year in June and December, since 2020. Scientific articles submitted for publication in the journal must be in Turkish or English.

Synthesis ETU Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences, the new peer in Turkey in the fields of economics and administrative sciences is one of the magazine. While the journal mainly provides a platform where issues related to economic and administrative sciences are examined and researched, it is also open to articles from various fields such as sociology of economy, history, social policy, international relations, financial studies. The target audience of the journal is academicians, researchers, professionals, students and related professional and academic institutions and organizations. Maximum one article can be published in a number of author / authors.

No processing fee or submission fee is charged for articles sent to the journal or accepted for publication.

All expenses of the journal are covered by Erzurum Technical University. Articles submitted for article publication and article processes in the journal should be prepared in accordance with the rules of research and publication ethics. ETU Journal of Synthesis Economics and Administrative Sciences observes the publication ethics principles, standards and recommendations determined by the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

All rights of the studies uploaded to ETÜ Sentez Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences have been transferred to the journal by the authors. A signature and a certificate of approval is not required from the author for this process. The scientific content, language, legal and ethical responsibilities of the studies published in the journal belong to the author / authors.
In the studies evaluated within the journal, our journal addresses the responsible (corresponded) author, does not have a relationship with other authors and does not have to give information to people other than the responsible author.

All kinds of publication and copyright of ETU Synthesis Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences also belong to the journal editor. According to the provisions of the Law No. 5846 on Intellectual and Artistic Works, any part or all of it cannot be published or reproduced by photocopy, digital and similar methods without the permission of the editor of the magazine. Quotations that do not comply with scientific ethical rules cannot be made. The intellectual and legal responsibility of the articles published in the journal belongs to the authors.

There is no royalty payment to the author (s) for the works published in the journal.

The opinions and responsibility in the articles published in the journal belong to the authors.

In the journal, not only studies from academics, but also studies from researchers and practitioners will be evaluated.

Articles written in either Turkish or English languages ​​are published in the journal. The responsibility of the studies published in the journal in terms of science and language belongs to the author (s).

Manuscripts submitted to the journal must not have been published anywhere before and have not been submitted for publication.

The citation and reference order of the articles to be sent to the journal should be in accordance with APA 6th version.

Articles should be prepared in accordance with the spelling rules and uploaded to the system completely in five stages after registering on the journal website.

Evaluation process:

All studies submitted to ETU Synthesis Economic and Administrative Sciences Journal are subject to double-blind peer review. At least two referees who are experts in their fields evaluate each study to be submitted.

The studies evaluated are first evaluated by the editors. Studies found in accordance with the journal publication policies are sent to a field editor for the field of interest for pre-evaluation. Studies that do not comply with the purpose and scope of the journal, are weak in terms of language and expression rules in Turkish and English, contain scientific critical errors, do not have original value and do not meet the publication policies are rejected. Authors of rejected studies are informed within two weeks at the latest from the date of submission.

As a result of the referee evaluations, the study is published in the first appropriate issue according to the publishable suggestion of both referees and with the approval of the editorial board. If one of the referees gives a negative opinion, the study is sent to a third referee and evaluated. With the positive opinion of this referee and the approval of the editorial board, the study is published in the first appropriate issue. The study with two negative opinions is rejected.

It is foreseen that the publication evaluation process of the studies submitted to the ETU Journal of Synthesis Economic and Administrative Sciences will be finalized within approximately 3 months.

Publication Ethics

ETU Journal of Synthesis Economic and Administrative Sciences expects the following ethical responsibilities within the scope of publication ethics. IThenticate, Turnitin etc. for ethical control and prevention of unethical attempts. Plagiarism programs are used.

Studies requiring Ethics Committee Permission to be evaluated in the journal within the framework of ethical rules are as follows:

All kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using questionnaire, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, interview techniques,
Clinical studies on humans.

In this framework, in studies to be evaluated in our journal;

Obtaining and specifying permission from the owners for the use of scales, questionnaires and photographs belonging to others,
It must be stated that the copyright regulations are complied with for the intellectual and artistic works used.
Ethical Responsibilities of the Author / Authors
A statement that all data in the article are true and authentic.
All authors should contribute substantially to the research.
All authors must ensure that the article is retracted and errors corrected.
Articles written in English will have an English bibliography.
The list of references should be complete.
Plagiarism and fake data should not be included.
The same research should not be attempted to be published in more than one journal, science should comply with research and publication ethics.
If the authors are asked for information or raw data about their articles during the evaluation process, the expected information should be submitted to the editors.
Author / Authors should contact the editor to inform, correct or retract when they notice an error in the evaluation and early viewing or electronically published article.
Ethical Responsibilities of the Referee
Referee reviews should be critical and unbiased.
In the event that the referee responds positively or negatively to the requested items in the report, he must present both in a reasoned manner. In case of negative or correction, it is obliged to provide “alternative suggestions”.
Referees should only make a text-based evaluation, avoid expressions about the authors' incompetence, and avoid expressions that would harm their personality.
The referee is only expected not to answer the evaluation criteria as yes or no, to detail his negative opinions, and to state his reasons.
The referees should evaluate the article, which they accepted, within the time limit.
Ethical Responsibilities of Editor, Assistant Editors and Field Editors
Editors are constantly on the lookout for a large and up-to-date referee pool.
Editors strive to meet the information needs of referees, authors, researchers, practitioners and readers, and to provide feedback when necessary.
While deciding on the publication of articles, editors take care that the articles are original and contribute to the scientific field, readers, researchers and practitioners.
Editors implement the policies of blind review and evaluation process, which are among the publishing policies of the journal, keep the identity information of the referees confidential, and ensure that each article is evaluated impartially and in time.
Editors send articles taking into account the field of expertise of the editors and referees, and they support the impartial and independent evaluation.
Editors take into account whether there is a conflict of interest between editors, referees and author (s) for unbiased evaluation of the article.
Editors prevent evaluations that do not comply with academic etiquette and scientific conditions.
Editors ensure the protection of personal data in reviewed articles; keep the personal data of the authors, referees and readers.
Editors protect the intellectual property rights of the published articles and defend the rights of the journal and author (s) in case of violation. They also check for originality-similarity.
Editors take into account the consistent criticism of the articles published in the journal and give the right to reply to the author (s) of the criticized articles.
Editors examine the complaints submitted to the journal and make the necessary explanations.
In addition, the editor does not send an evaluation as much as possible to the referees in the following situations:
To the referees with whom the author / authors have previously published collaborations,
To the referees who have assisted in the pre-reading of the author / authors' work
To the referees who are known to have problems with the author (s),
Referees who will benefit financially from the publication of the study,
To referees working in the same institution (same department) as the author.

Actions contrary to scientific research and publication ethics are:
a) Plagiarism: To present the ideas, methods, data, practices, writings, figures or works of others as if they were their own work, without reference to their owners in accordance with scientific rules,
b) Forgery: To produce data that is not based on research, to edit or change the presented or published work based on unreal data, to report or publish them, to pretend that a research has not been done,
c) Distortion: Falsifying the research records and the data obtained, showing the methods, devices and materials not used in the research as being used, not considering the data that are not suitable for the research hypothesis, playing with the data and / or results in order to conform to the relevant theory or assumptions, falsifying or shaping research results in line with their interests,
ç) Republishing: To present more than one work containing the same results of a research as separate works in evaluations for associate professorship exams and academic promotions,
d) Slicing: To present the results of a research as separate works in associate professorship exam evaluations and academic promotions by breaking down the results of a research in a way that disrupts the integrity of the research and by making many publications without reference to each other,
e) Unfair authorship: Including non-active contributors among the authors, not including active contributors among the authors, changing the author's order unjustified and improperly, removing the names of those with active contributions from the work during publication or in subsequent editions, to include his / her name among the authors,
f) Other types of ethical violations: A person who is assigned to not clearly state the supporters, institutions or organizations and their contribution to the research, not to comply with ethical rules in researches on humans and animals, not to respect patients' rights in their publications, and to review them as a referee. To share the information in the work with others before publication, to misuse the resources, places, facilities and devices provided or allocated for scientific research, to accuse completely baseless, unwarranted and deliberate violation of ethics (YÖK Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive, Article 8).
