Abstract


Despite health improvements over the last thirty years, lives continue to be lost due to early childhood diseases, inadequate newborn care and childbirth-related causes. The present study aims to stabilize the physiological parameters and to decrease the neonatal mortality with the implementation of modern newborn care which includes kangaroo mother care, exclusive breast feeding with eye contact, rooming-in and interaction/communication to the newborn by the mother. Quasi experimental two group pretest post test design was adopted. Totally 60 neonates were selected for the study. The intervention was administered to the neonates of experimental group and the routine care was given to the control group for 4 days.
