Journal Title:World Journal of Pharmaceutical Research
Abstract

Chitosan crosslinked with glutaraldehyde material were prepared by cross linking chitosan with lutaraldehyde. This study also deals characterization cross-linked chitosan-glutaraldehyde which conform stability of composite. The swelling behavior was observed to be dependent on pH, temperature and the degree of crosslinking. The Physico-chemical and structural characterization revealed that the cross-linking of chitosan with glutaraldehyde resulted in a rougher surface morphology, a characteristic Fourier transf orm infrared (FTIR) band at 1555 cm ?1, a specific X-ray diffraction peak centered at 2? = 14, a lower contents of carbon, hydrogen ,nitrogen and a higher stability of glucose units compared to chitosan based biocomposite on scanning electron microscopic observation, FTIR spectra, X-ray diffraction pattern, DSC as well as Elemental Analysis . Overall, this study indicated that cross-linked chitosan-glutaraldehyde is promising to be developed as a new material as biocomposit e.
