Journal Title:World Journal of Pharmaceutical Research
Abstract

The development of drug resistance as well as the appearance of undesirable side effects of certain antibiotics has necessitated the search for new antibiotic from natural sources. Keeping this in view, we have studied the antibacterial effect of Datura Inoxia leaf by preparing their hexane, ethanol and aqueous extracts against multidrug resistance strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The results of agar well diffusion assay indicated that the ethanol extract were most susceptible against Staphylococcus aureus, while aqueous extract were found to be ineffective against both the strains. This study has shown that the Datura Inoxia can act as promising plant for developing new antibiotics (herbal antibiotics) to Overcome the bacterial resistance problems worldwide.
